This lady's slipper orchid grows by a large rock next to a pond.
Each spring it blooms briefly to announce the passage of another season.
An Ojibwe legend that tells of a young girl who saved her village
from the plague by making a journey through the snow
to find medicine for the sick.  She was successful,
but she lost her moccasins on the journey and left a trail of footprints in the snow.
In the spring the footprints brought forth moccasin flowers, known today as
"The Lady's Slippers".
