Fifty years ago, on February 20, 1962, John Glenn flew the first manned orbital mission of the United States.  The spacecraft was called the "Friendship 7".  The mission lasted 4 hours, 55 minutes and 23 seconds from launch to impact.   This painting is in celebration of this historical event and it highlights a young astronaut who might dream of undiscovered planets in future missions.
