These mountains were first named the "Three Nuns" in 1883 following a winter storm that left the peaks snow-capped and resembling nuns in white veils.

They were renamed the Three Sisters in 1886 by a Canadian Geologist.  The Three Sisters are individually known as Big Sister, Middle Sister, and Little Sister or Faith, Hope and Charity.

Mount Michener is the high-elevation mountain on the eastern side of Abraham Lake, forming part of the Ram Range.  Abraham Lake, also known as Lake Abraham, is an artificial lake and Alberta's largest reservoir.

The Geldersekade is a canal and a street in Amsterdam
 that connects the Nieuwmarkt with the Prins Hendrikkade.  
The Geldersekade is the easternmost part of the Red Light District
 and is located in the middle of what is now known 
as Amsterdam's Chinatown.
A walk through time along the Geldersekade was part of our 
50th anniversary European trip.

Point Atkinson Lighthouse

Point Atkinson Lighthouse is a National Historic Site located in Lighthouse Park, across the Burrard Inlet from Vancouver, British Columbia.
 Point Atkinson was named by Captain George Vancouver in 1792 when he was exploring the Pacific Northwest in the ship Discovery.  
The first wooden lighthouse went into service in 1875.  
The present lighthouse was built in 1914 on granite boulders
jutting out into the Burrard Inlet.  It is now automated and still in use.
The Point Atkinson Lighthouse may be reached by
hiking the Valley Trail in Lighthouse Park.

This painting celebrates a  summer view of the  Sylvan Lake Lighthouse,
 built to replace the original lighthouse which was demolished during the winter of 2012/2013.
  The original lighthouse stood for close to 25 years and served as an iconic landmark 
for the town of Sylvan Lake.  
This new lighthouse was built through 2015/2016.

Rearguard Mountain

Rearguard Mountain is a 2,744 metre summit located
within Mount Robson Provincial Park in British Columbia, Canada.
It is part of the Rainbow Range which is a sub-range of the Canadian Rockies.
Its nearest higher peak is Mount Robson, 4.0 km to the southwest.
Rearguard is situated between Berg Lake and the Robson Glacier
