Sometimes we miss what is right before of us.
Who knew?
The strawberry leaf is a source of vitamin C, tannins, minerals and antioxidants.  The leaves have been harvested and used medicinally for centuries for many health benefits or can simply be enjoyed as a delicious summer-time hot or cold drink.

The strawberry is a cherished fruit but the leaf endures.
Groups of three.
The strawberry leaf.
A symbol of trinity.

Variety is the spice of life and although the bell pepper lacks the "heat" of the chili pepper it makes up for it in sweetness and health benefits.

Who knew?  Just as bell peppers can be green, yellow, orange and red
 they can also be purple.
This painting celebrates those that stand up for themselves and shout
"Me too".
Celebrate the beauty and joy of being different, yet the same!

Pumpkins have long since become a symbol of autumn.
In this painting of pumpkins and an old truck, we see a perfect pairing of times past.
Pumpkins are among the oldest domesticated plants on Earth.
Archaeological evidence suggests that pumpkins have been cultivated
as far back as 10,000 B.C.
This old truck may not be that old, but from the rust on its fenders,
 it has had countless adventures.
Perhaps it has delivered a few pumpkin pies.

Old Friend

SOLD
#130
Watercolour
Carole Villeneuve
January 2014

21" x 13"

The painting of this 50's Chevy truck reminds us that
memories of old friends are framed in many forms.
Memories formed through countless adventures are
revived upon remembering roads travelled.  This old friend,
once shiny and blue, has become a rainbow of faded colours.
Wearing proudly signs of age, he remains true to all he has seen
and all who have called him a friend.

The blossoms of peonies are said to represent good fortune in
romance and a happy marriage.
The peony is the traditional flower of a 12th wedding anniversary.
In full bloom peonies are said to mean peace.
In China the peony symbolizes wealth and elegance.
It is also an omen of good fortune and may be used to show love and affection.

This painting accentuates the wonder of light and stained glass. The stillness
of the bottles is put in motion as the sunlight passes through, creating
a symphony of colour.  The differences of each bottle disappear and they
become one as their inner beauty shines through.

"People are like stained-glass windows.  They sparkle and shine when
the sun is out, but when the darkness sets in, their true beauty is revealed only if there is a light from within."
-Elisabeth Kubler-Ross-

Although the colour blue is sometimes associated with melancholy it is more often associated with harmony, faithfulness and confidence.  The onion, with its spherical shape and concentric rings, was worshipped by the ancient Egyptians, who believed it symbolized eternal life.  This blue bowl, with its spherical shape and concentric rings, is the perfect container for this ancient symbol of eternal life.
 A blue bowl of onions!
Eternal life, harmony, faithfulness and confidence!
